In a powerful and selfless gesture, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce has announced that he is donating his entire $2.8 million bonus and endorsement earnings to charities focused on battling homelessness and supporting underserved communities across the country.
Kelce, a two-time Super Bowl champion and one of the NFL’s most recognizable figures, shared the news through a statement released Monday morning via his foundation, 87 & Running. The donation will be distributed among multiple organizations dedicated to providing shelter, meals, education, and mental health services to individuals and families in need.
“I’ve been given an incredible platform and so many opportunities throughout my career,” Kelce said. “Now it’s time to pay that forward in a way that truly helps people get back on their feet. No one deserves to be left behind—especially when we have the power to help.”
The $2.8 million sum includes Kelce’s latest performance bonus from the Kansas City Chiefs, along with revenue from recent endorsement partnerships. Among the organizations expected to benefit are Restart Inc. in Kansas City, the National Coalition for the Homeless, and Project HOME.
Teammates, fans, and fellow athletes have taken to social media to praise Kelce’s generosity, calling the move “inspiring,” “humbling,” and “the ultimate example of giving back.” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also expressed admiration, stating, “Travis continues to be a leader on and off the field. This is a true testament to his heart and character.”
Kelce has long been involved in charitable efforts, including youth mentorship programs and educational initiatives in both Kansas City and his hometown of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. His foundation, 87 & Running, has helped hundreds of young people gain access to learning resources and career opportunities.
As the Chiefs gear up for another championship run, Kelce’s decision to use his success for good adds another layer to his already remarkable legacy—proving that true greatness comes not only from what you achieve, but from what you give.
