In a personal essay, the new father wrote that he’s “mastered the art of being selfish,” which has helped him succeed, but now it’s time for him to change his ways.
“So becoming a parent at my age is forcing me to learn things many of you learned in your 20s, 30s and 40s – that you have to think about someone else. And for me, that’s tough,” the host admitted in his essay for Fox News.
“Once you have a kid, you can’t regret anything you did before that because to change the past would erase the possibility of that child.”
Gutfeld said his “entire home has changed” since his wife Elena Moussa, 42, gave birth to their daughter Mira in December.
The host and his wife quite literally changed homes in July 2024 when they bought a $10.5 million loft in SoHo, New York, which has more than enough room for their growing family, Realtor.com reported.
In his essay, he praised his wife’s resilience during childbirth, comparing it to a “nine-month tour of duty” that ends with “exhaustion and hormones.”
“And for that reason, we should treat moms like conquering heroes,” he wrote.
When discussing fatherhood on The Five, the host said he’s “terrible at everything.”
“I give emotional support, but you know, Elena is kind of, like, pretty hands-on and keeps me away from it,” he said.
“She said to me that I’m terrible at everything, like, she says, I’m very clumsy.”
The comedian announced the birth of his daughter in a comical post on X.
“See, that’s how you keep a secret,” he posted on December 10.
“Thank you all for the nice words! See you in a few!”
Gutfeld first met Moussa during a business trip to Portugal in 2004.
The comedian was an editor at Maxim UK at the time, and his wife worked as a photo editor for Maxim Russia, People reported.
During an appearance on the Club Random podcast hosted by Bill Maher, the political pundit said he knew Moussa was his wife from the second he saw her.
“I met her and I go, ‘Oh, that’s my wife.’ I just knew it,” he recalled.
“And then I spent three days in Portugal trying to talk to her.”
The couple married only five months after meeting, and despite their public careers, they’ve kept most of their relationship relatively private.
One thing the couple hasn’t kept private is their french bulldog Gus.
Gus joined their family in October 2022. and has since become a star on the comedian’s Instagram, making weekly appearances.
HEROIC REUNION
The couple made also headlines in 2022 when Gutfeld announced, in support of his wife and her family, that he would adjust his show’s regular schedule to allow for more coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Moussa was born in Russia but moved to the US with her husband, however, the rest of her family relocated to Ukraine.
When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Gutfeld worked with his Fox News coworkers to rescue Moussa’s mother from the country.
Moussa and her mother reunited in an emotional video where the designer embraced her mother and whispered “Thank God” in Russian.
Gutfeld thanked his Fox News peers reporting from Ukraine, calling them “unbelievably awesome” and “heroes.”
