The moment unfolded as the show returned from a commercial break, with Whoopi reacting to Joy’s antics.
Whoopi warned, “If you don’t stop touching me, I swear,” with a smirk as cameras focused on her.
Joy quickly revealed some newly-gathered intelligence, joking, “I recently found out that Whoopi is very ticklish. Just saying. Watch.”
Without hesitation, Joy reached across the Hot Topics table, launching a surprise tickle attack aimed directly at her chest.

Whoopi immediately recoiled before swatting Joy away, prompting Sara Haines to clutch her own chest in shock.
She exclaimed, “I know this is going to come as a shock. That was my breast!”
Joy, unfazed, could be heard responding in the background with a casual, “Oh well.”
Whoopi concluded, “She just pushed it onto the other side. Listen! We have guests!”
The pair quickly regrouped before shifting focus to the day’s interviews with Jenny Slate and Michelle Williams.
The View premiered in 1997, meaning the show is nearing its 28th anniversary.
The View’s Whoopi Goldberg appears ‘tired’ and ‘uninterested’ during show taping as she faces retirement rumors
The popular American talk show was created by broadcast journalist Barbara Walters.
It is currently in its 28th season, and after its recent boost in ratings, one extra show each week has been confirmed, with The View set to air every Saturday.
Starting January 11, The Weekend View airs on ABC News Live, which is the streaming platform website.
The show is half an hour long and features the Friday panel, which includes moderator Joy Behar, and co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro, as per Variety.
Controversial panelist Whoopi won’t be on the show because she is often off on Fridays.
Whoopi only appears on The View each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
So, with the show filmed with the Friday panel, it’s likely Whoopi will never appear on the weekend version of The View.
According to Variety, who broke the news, the new show will include an extended Hot Topics segment, which will be “taped sometime during the week after the regular The View broadcast.”
The new show “will also include clips from the talker’s companion podcast, Behind the Table, which features executive producer Brian Teta and The View co-hosts as they talk about the week’s top pop-culture stories”.
NEW SPIN-OFF COMES AFTER RATINGS BOOST
Karin Gilford, senior vice president of Digital Media, ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment Network said of the new series, “It’s an opportunity for us to extend the conversation, give viewers more of what they love from the connection they feel for the show.
“We really think ‘Weekend View,’ in addition to what we’ve done on podcasting — we’ve always had a great short form and social presence for the show — is kind of the next frontier,” as per Variety.
According to reports, The Weekend View “won’t be as politics-heavy as the weekday View,” with the show adopting a more lighthearted approach.
Producer Karin added, “We’re following what we’ve seen be successful on ABC News Live on the weekends.
‘A LIGHTER FEEL’ AND NO POLITICS
“On Saturdays and Sundays, it’s sort of the more a lighter feel.
“They’re still covering all the stories of the week, but in a little bit of a different tone.
“So it’ll be the same show format.
“We’ll cover the hot topics, but it will lean a little bit more into pop culture on the weekends.”
