The sound of the engine broke the calm of dawn.

Grave.

Heavy.

Out of place.

Alejandro—no longer Andrés—heard it from the doorway of the house. His body reacted before his mind.

Danger.

I didn’t need to remember to know it.

The black car moved slowly along the muddy road until it stopped in front of the fence.

The doors opened.

Two men got out.

Dark suits.

Clean shoes, too clean for that place.

And a look that Alejandro knew very well.

They didn’t come to help.

They came to confirm.

“Stay inside,” he told Laura without looking at her.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, confused.

—Trust me.

It was the first time her voice sounded… different.

Firm.

Authoritarian.

She noticed it.

But he didn’t ask any more questions.

He took the children and stepped back.

Alejandro walked towards the fence.

The mud didn’t bother him.

Neither was there any rain.

One of the men smiled when he saw him.

—Wow… the dead man is walking.

Alejandro recognized him.

Ignacio Velasco.

One of his partners.

One of the men he had trusted the most.

And now…

One of those who had tried to kill him.

“You should have made better sure,” Alejandro said calmly.

Ignacio approached.

—The car went off a cliff. It caught fire. We left nothing to chance.

—Except for my body.

Silence.

“That won’t happen again,” the other man replied, pulling out a gun.

Laura saw the metallic gleam from the window.

“No…” she whispered.

Alejandro slowly raised his hands.

But not as a sign of surrender.

As a sign of calculation.

“Before you shoot…” he said, “you should ask yourselves something.”

Ignacio frowned.

-What thing?

Why am I still here?

He took a step.

—If I survived… it’s because someone failed.

Another step.

—And if someone failed… it’s because not everyone is on their side.

That sowed doubt.

Just one second.

But it was enough.

Alejandro took the plunge.

The gun went off.

The sound echoed across the field.

But the shot missed its target.

Alejandro hit the man.

He disarmed it.

He moved with brutal precision.

As if his body remembered every fight, every decision.

Ignacio stepped back.

-Moron!

He tried to draw his own weapon.

But it was too late.

Alejandro had him against the fence.

—Who else?

Silence.

—WHO ELSE?

Ignacio looked at him.

And she smiled.

-It doesn’t matter.

And then…

Another engine was heard.

Another car.

Then another one.

Three more.

Black people.

Aligned.

Alejandro understood.

It wasn’t an attempt.

It was a cleaning.

From inside the house, Laura hugged her children.

—What’s happening…?

Alexander slowly backed away.

Calculating.

I couldn’t win that.

Not only.

He looked at the house.

And he made a decision.

He ran towards her.

—We have to go.

-That?

-Now.

-I don’t understand anything!

—I’ll explain later. Move it!

There wasn’t time.

The men advanced.

Fast.

Organized.

Alejandro took the children through the back.

Towards the forest.

“Don’t look back,” he said.

They walked among trees, mud, and roots.

The rain continued to fall.

But now…

It was a race against death.

After several minutes, they arrived at an old abandoned cabin.

Alejandro closed the door.

He took a deep breath.

And for the first time…

Laura confronted him.

-Who are you?

Silence.

He could no longer lie.

—My name… is Alejandro Rivas.

She remained motionless.

—The… millionaire?

-Yeah.

—And them…?

—They want to kill me.

-Because?

—Because someone wants to keep everything.

Laura shook her head.

—No… this can’t be…

-It is.

He approached.

—And now you are in danger… because of me.

The silence was heavy.

Painful.

“Then go,” she said suddenly.

Alejandro looked at her, surprised.

—If you stay… they’ll kill us.

His words were firm.

But her eyes… no.

—But if I leave…

—You saved us.

The children were watching him.

Confused.

Scared.

“I don’t want you to leave,” Sofia whispered.

That broke him.

Because at that moment…

He understood everything.

He could reclaim his empire.

Your money.

His power.

But that…

That wasn’t what mattered.

“I’m not leaving,” he finally said.

Laura looked at him.

-You’re crazy?

-Maybe.

He smiled slightly.

—But I’ve already lost a life.

I wasn’t going to lose this one too.

Outside…

The cars were approaching.

Time was running out.

Alejandro looked at Laura.

—Trust me once more.

She hesitated.

Just one second.

Then he nodded.

And at that moment…

The man who had been the most powerful in the country…

He stopped running away.

And he decided to fight.

Not for money.

Not because of power.

But for something I had never had before.

A family.

And this time…

I didn’t plan on losing her.
