In the wake of the shocking assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has shared what she describes as the last message she ever received from him — a short but haunting text sent just minutes before he was gunned down at Utah Valley University.
Bondi, a close friend and ally of Kirk’s, fought back tears during an interview on Thursday as she read the line aloud. While she declined to release the full message publicly, she characterized it as “chilling in its simplicity, almost as if he knew something was about to happen.”
A Message That Raises Questions
Kirk’s death, already the focus of a nationwide manhunt and a storm of political commentary, now carries a new layer of mystery. “It wasn’t a goodbye, but it felt heavy, like a warning,” Bondi said. “I’ll never forget it. And I’ll never stop asking why.”
Her comments have ignited debate online, with speculation over whether Kirk had received prior threats, sensed danger during his visit, or merely expressed a moment of exhaustion.
The Night of the Shooting
On September 10, Kirk took the stage in Orem, Utah, to address a crowd of students and supporters. The event, part of his “American Comeback Tour,” had been advertised as a debate-style forum. Witnesses described the atmosphere as energetic — until a single shot from a rooftop sniper turned the hall into chaos.
Kirk was struck in the neck and collapsed on stage as panicked attendees rushed for the exits. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The rifle believed to be the murder weapon was recovered near the campus, and the FBI continues to assist Utah authorities in what has been described as a “politically motivated assassination.”
Bondi’s Emotional Revelation
Bondi’s decision to share the existence of Kirk’s final text has fueled both sorrow and suspicion. “It breaks my heart to know those were the last words he sent me,” she said. “I don’t know if he knew something, or if it was just fate. But I can tell you this: he felt something in those final minutes.”
She did not disclose the full eight-word line but confirmed it was short and carried a tone of foreboding. “It’s not my place to make it a headline,” she explained. “But it’s burned into my mind forever.”
A Divided Public Reaction
Online, reactions have ranged from sympathy for Bondi’s grief to calls for investigators to release more details about threats Kirk may have faced before the Utah event. Conservative commentators described the text as evidence that Kirk anticipated danger, while others cautioned against drawing conclusions from an ambiguous personal message.
“This is exactly how myths are born,” noted Dr. Andrea Lewis, a professor of political communication. “Final texts, final words — they become symbols, regardless of whether they hold literal truth. The meaning grows beyond the message itself.”
Investigation Continues
Authorities have not confirmed whether Kirk sent any other messages prior to the event, nor whether the text to Bondi has been reviewed as part of the investigation. Officials stress that the priority remains identifying and apprehending the shooter.
Governor Spencer Cox has called for patience, urging the public not to let grief fuel conspiracy theories. “We owe it to Charlie, his family, and this state to pursue the truth through facts, not rumors,” he said.
A Lingering Mystery
Still, for Bondi and Kirk’s supporters, the final message looms large. “Did he know what was coming? I can’t answer that,” Bondi admitted. “But I know his courage. And I know he gave everything to this country until his very last breath.”
