In a recent Billboard interview, Badu confirmed that her first studio album in 15 years is in the works, with The Alchemist solely handling production.
Best known for his signature sound and collaborations with hip hop heavyweights outside the genre’s most commercialised strain, The Alchemist has also been Eminem’s touring DJ in recent years. Now, he is bringing his production expertise to Badu’s latest project, blending his gritty beats with her signature neo-soul style.
While Badu did not reveal too many details, she teased that the album is taking up much of her time and is eager to share the final product. Fans already got a taste of what was to come when she posted a short teaser online, which sparked an enthusiastic response from listeners cravу new music from the genre-blending artist.
With The Alchemist’s recent run of acclaimed work alongside former Shady Records signees Griselda, Larry June, Mobb Deep, Kendrick Lamar, Action Bronson, Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Schoolboy Q, Boldy James, Earl Sweatshirt, and more, this collaboration is shaping up to be one of the most exciting musical pairings in recent years. Whether it leans into hip hop, soul, or something entirely unexpected, Badu is back, and she is ready to make an impact once again.
