The SpaceX Fanclub Facebook page posted a meme claiming that Kid Rock refused to let Taylor Swift join him on stage, telling the pop star: “Go home girl, your music is just bubblegum.”

The post links to an article on esspots.com claiming that Kid Rock refused to collaborate with Swift:

“We need more Toby Keiths and less Taylor Swifts,” [Kid Rock] declared, voicing his disdain for what he sees as a move away from the authentic spirit of country music. His candid rejection of a potential collaboration sheds light on the wider cultural divide in the entertainment world, emphasizing the ongoing tension between traditional and modern forms of artistic expression.

Kid Rock’s comments reflect his long-standing alignment with a rugged, unapologetically American brand of music that merges rock, country, and hip-hop. With albums like Devil Without a Cause and Born Free, he has cultivated a persona that appeals to fans who value a no-nonsense approach to storytelling and themes rooted in heartland values. However, the claim was not real and came from sources that were satirical in nature. The Facebook post also came with a “satire” label, while its affiliated website, Esspots, described itself as specializing in satire.

Kid Rock, a vocal Trump supporter, had attacked Swift for her political views before. In 2019, he posted a tweet criticizing the singer for being a Democrat, writing: “Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period. And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”

Taylor Swift is widely considered a cultural phenomenon and, at the time of this writing, holds the record for the most-attended concert by a female artist ever in the U.S. Ticket sales for The Eras Tour exceeded $1 billion.
