President Trump blasted late-night host Stephen Colbert early Wednesday as a “dead man walking” — telling his bosses at CBS that the “humanitarian” thing would be to “put him to sleep.”
“Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck, with no talent or anything else necessary for show business success,” Trump wrote just after midnight in a Truth Social rant about the host whose show still has a few months to run before finally ending.
“Now, after being terminated by CBS, but left out to dry, he has actually gotten worse, along with his nonexistent ratings. Stephen is running on hatred and fumes ~ A dead man walking! CBS should, ‘put him to sleep,’ NOW, it is the humanitarian thing to do!”

The commander-in-chief followed up on his remarks by questioning which network had the worst late-night talk show host.
“Who has the worst Late Night host, CBS, ABC, or NBC???
They all have three things in common: High Salaries, No Talent, REALLY LOW RATINGS!” Trump wrote.
He went even further, suggesting that networks could have their broadcast licenses pulled because of how their hosts talk about him on air.
“If Network NEWSCASTS, and their Late Night Shows, are almost 100% Negative to President Donald J. Trump, MAGA, and the Republican Party, shouldn’t their very valuable Broadcast Licenses be terminated? I say, YES!” the president wrote.

Trump appeared to take aim at Colbert after CBS aired a rerun of the Dec. 8 episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” — just hours after the network broadcast “The Kennedy Center Honors,” which was hosted by the president.
Colbert, 61, whose fiery CBS show is set to end in May 2026 — with the network insisting the decision was based solely on financial reasons, not politics — was cheered by Trump when the cancellation was announced in July.

Trump used the show’s cancellation as a warning to fellow late-night hosts.
“I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next.
Has even less talent than Colbert!” Trump wrote in July.
“Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Kimmel was suspended by ABC for several days in September for comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin.
In November, Trump also ripped the host of NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers” for “suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).“
“He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER.
Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump declared.
