President Donald Trump got into the Christmas spirit early Wednesday morning by attacking Stephen Colbert and boiling over late-night TV programs.
“Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck, with no talent or anything else necessary for show business success,” wrote Trump in what marked his second-straight, wee-hours meltdown on his Truth Social platform this week.
“Now, after being terminated by CBS, but left out to dry, he has actually gotten worse, along with his nonexistent ratings.
Stephen is running on hatred and fumes ~ A dead man walking! CBS should, ‘put him to sleep,’ NOW, it is the humanitarian thing to do!”
Trump’s post appeared as CBS aired a rerun of the Dec. 8 episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on the East Coast, just hours after the network broadcast “The Kennedy Center Honors,” which was hosted by the president.
In his monologue that night, Colbert reacted to a clip of Trump insisting that Jimmy Kimmel, who never hosted the Kennedy Center Honors but did appear on stage at the ceremony in 2014, was “horrible” at the gig.
“If I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president,” said Trump in remarks from the Oval Office earlier this month.
“You can’t, and you shouldn’t!” Colbert quipped.
In the rerun, Colbert also hit Trump with a “quick brain check” by revealing that he, unlike Kimmel, hosted the ceremony three straight times.
Trump’s latest grumblings come five months after CBS’s shock decision to cancel the “Late Show,” which is set to end in May.
Trump has apparently fumed over weeks-old late-night jokes before.
Last month, Trump called on NBC to fire Seth Meyers “IMMEDIATELY” after the network seemingly broadcast a rerun of “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” where the host mocked the president’s complaints of catapults on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.

In additional posts early Wednesday morning, Trump hurled more threats into the social media stratosphere and added fuel to the flames of his war against late-night TV.
“Who has the worst Late Night host, CBS, ABC, or NBC???
They all have three things in common: High Salaries, No Talent, REALLY LOW RATINGS!” he wrote.
Trump continued complaining in another post: “If Network NEWSCASTS, and their Late Night Shows, are almost 100% Negative to President Donald J. Trump, MAGA, and the Republican Party, shouldn’t their very valuable Broadcast Licenses be terminated? I say, YES!”

Trump concluded his holiday posting spree of grievances with: “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!”
