A viral video shared on X claims Whoopi Goldberg purportedly walked off the set of ABC’s “The View” following an “explosive debate” with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Verdict: False
Leavitt has never appeared on “The View,” according to the Internet Movie Database.
Fact Check:
Goldberg returned to “The View” on Feb. 24 after missing three episodes due to the flu, according to Newsweek. Goldberg described the flu as “awful” during the same episode, the outlet reported.
The X video, which has received over two million views as of writing, claims Goldberg purportedly walked off the set of ABC’s “The View” following an “explosive debate” with Leavitt.
According to the video’s narration, Leavitt purportedly appeared on the latest episode of “The View” to discuss the “current state of American politics” and “the younger generation’s interest in the Republican Party.” Goldberg purportedly walked off set after clashing with Leavitt on the subject.
“Whoopi Goldberg WALKS OFF The View During Explosive Debate With Caroline [sic] Leavitt,” text superimposed on the video reads. The video bears a label indicating it originally stems from TikTok user @david.paul931. A similar iteration of the claim can be found on the same user’s profile.
The claim is false. Leavitt is not included in the list of guests slated to appear on “The View” between Feb. 24 and 28. In fact, Leavitt has never appeared on the daytime talk show throughout the course of its 29 seasons, according to the Internet Movie Database.
