At eight o’clock in the morning, Emily Carter was cleaning the glass coffee table in the living room when she saw five luxury cars approaching the door. After four months working at the Harrington estate, she immediately sensed that this day would be different.
Upstairs, Michael Harrington pointed out the window at his eight-year-old son, Noah.
Son, the five women we talked about have arrived. They’ll be staying with us for thirty days.
Noah watched the elegant women get out of the cars.
“And in the end I have to choose one to be my new mom, right, Dad?”
—That’s right. They’re all cultured people and come from influential families. I’m sure you’ll like them.
“What if I don’t like any of them?”
You will. They can give you an excellent education and take you all over the world.
Suddenly, the sound of breaking glass echoed throughout the house, followed by an angry voice.
Useless maid! You broke my expensive glass!
Michael and Noah exchanged surprised glances.
“What was that?” Noah asked.
—I’m not sure. Let’s check.
They ran downstairs and found Emily kneeling on the floor, picking up broken glass, her finger bleeding. A tall brunette stood beside her, arms crossed.
That glass was imported crystal. It cost more than he earns in a year.
“It was an accident,” Emily whispered, looking down.
“An accident?” the woman scoffed. “People like you shouldn’t touch valuable objects.”
“Excuse me,” Michael said firmly. “What’s wrong?”
The brunette turned around with a forced smile. “Michael, I’m Vanessa Montgomery. I just got here and your maid broke my glass.”
The other four women approached and watched Emily on the ground.
“Well, this is awkward,” said a thin blonde.
“I’m Olivia Prescott,” she added coldly.
“Accidents happen,” Michael replied, trying to defuse the situation.

“They hang out with unrefined people,” Olivia said, looking at Emily. “Classy people know more.”
Noah walked past his father and ran towards Emily.
“Um, are you hurt?”
Emily looked up, forcing a smile.
—It’s nothing, darling. Just a scratch.
Vanessa narrowed her eyes. “What a strange closeness.”
Michael intervened. “Since everyone’s here, let’s get this straight. This is Emily, our employee. And you are the candidates.”
The women proudly introduced themselves: Vanessa, from an old New York family; Olivia, a model and influencer who had lived in Paris; Katherine Reynolds, a corporate lawyer; Dr. Melissa Grant, a dermatologist with a private practice; and Laura Bennett, an architect.
Throughout the entire process, they treated Emily as if she didn’t exist.
“They’ll stay here for thirty days,” Michael explained. “In the end, Noah will decide who he wants me to marry.”
“And the maid?” Vanessa asked.
—She’s staying—Michael replied. —Emily has been working here for months.
Olivia exchanged a glance with Katherine. “We just hope she understands their position.”
Noah grabbed Emily’s hand. “Em, come see the drawing I made.”
“First he needs to clean up his mess,” Melissa snapped.
“Okay,” Emily said quietly. “I’ll go later.”
Vanessa watched attentively. “Interesting.”
That afternoon, the five women gathered in the courtyard, comparing gifts: tablets, luxury trips, elite schools, room renovations.
Noah appeared politely, thanking them without enthusiasm.
Then Emily arrived with juice and cinnamon cookies. Noah’s face lit up.
Did you do this?
I did it. And I brought origami paper.
The women watched in silence, their joy unmistakable.
That night they met again.
“This situation with the maid is unacceptable,” Vanessa whispered.
“He’s too attached,” Laura agreed.
“It’s inappropriate,” Katherine said.
“He needs to learn hierarchy,” Melissa added.
“And she needs a lesson,” Vanessa concluded.
Michael, meanwhile, couldn’t ignore the change in his son. Noah started laughing again, eating again, and living again.

Later, Noah showed him an origami bird.
“She’s patient,” he said. “She never yells.”
“Did you like the girls?” Michael asked.
“They’re cute… but Emily is better.”
Because?
It’s real.
“Are you going to fire her?” Noah asked anxiously.
“No,” Michael promised. “She’s staying.”
The harassment began days later: intentional disasters, hidden supplies, blaming Emily. Michael installed hidden cameras.
What he saw enraged him.
When Noah defended her, Vanessa threatened him.
“If you keep choosing her, you’ll have to decide.”
“I already did,” Noah replied. “I choose Emily.”
Michael uncovered false accusations and sham investigations ordered by Vanessa.
At the final party, believing they had won, the women boasted, unaware that they were being recorded.
Michael played everything publicly.
The truth shattered them.
“These women tried to destroy a kind woman because my son loved her,” Michael said.
“I want Emily to be my mom,” Noah said softly.
Michael proposed to Emily in front of everyone.
She said yes through tears.
The women fled in disgrace.
Months later, Michael and Emily married in a simple ceremony. Noah called her “Mom.”
Later, his daughter was born.
Looking back, Emily said softly, “All the hardships brought me here.”
And together they proved that love is not defined by status, but by kindness, truth, and courage.
